Process for Opting a Student out of State Testing

The Parental Exclusion from State Assessment Form must be submitted to the principal or district by email, mail, or in person on an annual basis and at least one day prior to the beginning of the assessment. The principal may invite (but not require) you to meet regarding your request to exclude your child(ren) from taking state assessments.  Students will not be negatively impacted by not taking assessments with the exception of the Civics test which is required for graduation (R277404R2).

Attention Child Find

In accordance with Part B requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 04 and with the Utah State Board of Education Special Education Rules, Morgan School District offers free assessments and evaluation for children, aged birth through 21, who parents, teachers, or others suspect of having a disability.

Morgan School District is committed to ensuring that those students are identified, located, and evaluated, regardless of the severity of the disability, to identify if the student is in need of special education and related services.  This child find requirement and practice also applies to those students enrolled in private schools.

If you suspect that a child who is not receiving special education services is in need of an evaluation to determine if that need exists, please contact Steve Wood, District Special Education Director at 801-829-3467 or the special education teacher at your neighborhood school.

Right to Know

Parents/Guardians:  According to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), you have the right to know the professional qualifications of your student’s classroom teacher.  If you are interested in obtaining this information, please contact your school principal.
